Revitalizing old treasures
Built in 1912, The Simmons Building, is a historical landmark and former mattress factory located right along East Village’s RiverWalk. Now home to three local favourites: Charbar, Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters and Sidewalk Citizen Bakery, the Simmons is equipped with a 2-level Argentinian-inspired restaurant and a rooftop patio to entertain guests. This newly-found old treasure is a must-visit among Calgary’s culinary scene. One side overlooks Calgary’s skyline while the other has an incredible view of the Bow River and St. Patrick’s Bridge.
East Village Calgary is the newest, oldest, coolest neighbourhood located east of downtown Calgary. As a hub for entrepreneurial and community energy, East Village is full of urban vibes and is a great visionary leader in creating a young, playful community to build upon the city’s next generation. The Simmons building is a jewel in this community and the perfect place for a charming new culinary hub.
Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) is the mastermind behind the evolution of the East Village. As CMLC develops this community, their vision of creating an area where Calgarians can gather as well as grow, was the motivation behind revitalizing the historic Simmons Building.
This newly-found old treasure is surely a must-visit among Calgary's culinary scene!
