1. What do you tell your friends and family from other cities about life in Calgary?

How refreshing it is. There is always something to do no matter what you are interested in. The people are so friendly; the sense of community in this city is inspiring.

2. Any tips or advice for Calgary newcomers or those considering a move to Calgary?

Spend time getting lost. Take the wrong turns. Try a place that you wouldn’t normally go to. This city has some incredible surprises – and they aren’t always what they seem. When I first moved here, I put myself out there (yes it is hard) and went to events alone, volunteered at a ton of different places, tried new restaurants, walked or biked to new places, and it was unreal how many things I learned about Calgary over such a short period of time.

3. What do you think is the biggest surprise about Calgary for anyone who isn’t familiar with the city?

How accessible it is!

We are so fortunate to be living in a major centre that has access to so many things. Whether you are on foot, biking, driving or public transportation – there are a lot of ways to get from point A to B. In that same vein, accessibility is transferable to our culture. There are festivals and events for everyone - I love diversity!

4. Where do you take friends and family when they visit?

To Mealshare partner restaurants! We tend to eat all of the food, then usually walk downtown, by the river - there usually is a festival or event happening around the city.

5. What is a fun fact people wouldn’t know about you?

I used to play badminton at the collegiate level. My badminton scholarship put me through university for a couple years, so if anyone wants to hit up a court…
