There's no doubt about it – Calgary's entrepreneurial energy is in full force, despite a recent downturn. In fact, Calgary’s surrounding communities were recently named the most attractive environment for promoting entrepreneurial success. With the constant urge to create something new, designers and creative-types flock to Calgary to be part of the energy

Calgarians are creators, doers, believers and that's becoming increasingly more apparent through the emerging interest for arts and culture.

As the city best known as Canada's oil and gas capital grows, so does the need to build urban communities packed full with trendy events to attend. East Village is a perfect example of this integration between community and urbanity. Calgary is starting to build a name for itself among the creative community, especially with the rise of interest in creating a culture around fashion.

Within the trendy inner city neighbourhoods of Inglewood and Kensington, there’s a wide array of local boutiques lined up for your shopping convenience. Through their innovative energy, these small shops establish themselves in the Calgary market as big fishes in a small pond.

Currently emerging is Calgary’s fashion scene, which is greatly impacted by local fashion bloggers like Katie Marks and Ania B who are passionate about creating a voice for Calgary fashion.

There’s been a definite growth in fashion-related events in Calgary. One of the most innovative and talked about events is coming up this Friday, November 6th, where luxurious fashion and music will merge with a dark twist on classic fairytales and legends at the Fairytales and Legends Fashion Gala. Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and Holt Renfrew have partnered to showcase Calgary’s latest and greatest fashions of the Fall and Winter 2015 season. The evening will be set in a mysterious forest as guests fall under the evening’s ominous spell at the Devonian Gardens in the Core Shopping Centre.

Overall, Calgary’s evolution as a fashion destination creates more opportunities for entrepreneurial advancement through the further diversification of our economy.
