Instagram Influencer | Tiffany Grisdale

Tiffany Grisdale is the dirty girl behind the successful lifestyle blog, www.myDIRT.ca. She has more kids than she has patience, more to-do lists than time and a wardrobe of yoga clothes that have never seen a yoga studio. In her spare time (HA) she blogs, runs, shoots with her camera and has just added a puppy to the 4 kids she already wrangles. One day she hopes to figure out what she wants to be when THEY grow up.

What inspired you to take over the lifeincalgary Instagram account?

I was asked to jump in on short notice for the takeover but when the opportunity presented itself, I was immediately excited to share my love of my city with the followers of lifeincalgary.

Where did you come from and what attracted you to the city?

Although I was born in Winnipeg, I have called Calgary home for most of my life. There is nowhere else in Canada that I would want to live. The sense of community, the events, the rocky mountain backdrop and even the weather are just a few things that I love about living in Calgary.

What do you do in your spare time? What is your favourite Calgary past-time or activity?

In my spare time I love going for walks around the city with my dog and kids. We explore new paths and take pictures of our adventures. When I get time alone, I run the pathways along the river or reservoir.

Where is your favorite place to eat or visit in Calgary?

My favourite places (because I can’t pick just one) to eat in Calgary are Blink, Vintage Chophouse, Ox Bar de Tapas and Globefish. I love our food trucks and craft desserts like Village Icecream, the small places to have breakfast and Silver Dragon for dimsum. I could go on and on. Food is life!

What is a fun fact people wouldn’t know about you?

Fun fact about me, I was on a reality show contest here in Calgary called, Instant Beauty Pageant with my best friend.

Any tips or advice for Calgary newcomers or those considering a move to Calgary?

My tip for newcomers to Calgary: go to festivals! From Latin fest to Global fest, to Folk fest, Calgary has some of the most amazing festivals that showcase cultures and music from around the world.

What do you tell your friends and family from other cities about life in Calgary?

I tell my friends who live in other cities that Calgary is a diverse and resilient city. We have survived a flood and economic diversity with grace and always show up to help a friend or neighbour.

Where do you take friends and family when they visit?

When I have friends visit Calgary for the first time, I always take them to Prince’s Island park, the downtown core, a festival and of course, the mountains.

What do you think is the biggest surprise about Calgary for anyone who isn’t familiar with the city?

I think the biggest surprise about Calgary for anyone who isn’t familiar with the city is how beautiful and diverse it is. We’re not just prairies and dust.

How has the city influenced who you are or your organization?

Calgary has influenced me by growing my sense of community pride. We have much to be proud of as Calgarians. I’m proud to say I live here and I love showing people why I love it.
