What inspired you to take over the lifeincalgary Instagram account?

As a food and travel blogger, I wanted to showcase Calgary from a different perspective by including dining suggestions and hidden spots in the city.

Where did you come from and what attracted you to the city?

I was born in Taiwan, raised in Malaysia and I have lived in various different cities before settling down in Calgary. I moved to Calgary after getting engaged to my husband who had just relocated to Calgary for work.

What do you do in your spare time? Favourite Calgary past-time or activity?

Cooking, photography and traveling to different places inside and outside Canada. My favourite Calgary activity is going to the Rockies!

Where is your favorite place to eat or visit in Calgary?

I love Heritage Park! That place is just adorable.

What is a fun fact people wouldn’t know about you?

I am a big Mickey Mouse fan. My house is full of Mickey Mouse items. You can see Mickey in everything from mugs, lamp, pillows to jewelry!

Any tips or advice for Calgary newcomers or those considering a move to Calgary?

Start building your community by attending social events, supporting local businesses, and meet new people in the city on social media platforms (e.g., Facebook Groups, Meetup etc.)

What do you tell your friends and family from other cities about life in Calgary?

It might not be as big as other metro cities I’d lived in before, but I enjoy the pace of life here and the closeness to the wilderness.

Where do you take friends and family when they visit?

Heritage Park, Crescent Heights Hill, Drumheller and Banff.

How has the city influenced who you are or your organization?

I have learned to take life slow, one step at a time and enjoy your surroundings.
