If you live in Calgary and you enjoy photography and a good walk then don’t miss the #yycphotowalk on Sunday, March 7th, 2010, at Kensington.

The meeting point will be: Original Joe’s (1220 Kensington Road NW) at 10:30 am if you want to come for brunch or 11:30 am if you just want to walk around Kensington and shoot (I mean photo shooting).

I was at the first #yycphotowalk and met a great group of people and had great fun.

Calgary Zoo Koalas

I took the Family to the Calgary Zoo yesterday to see the Koalas.

It was great to see the Koalas and to hear all the information provided by one of the Zoo specialists. These little fellows spend most of their day sleeping and all that I managed to capture was this shot of his back.

I did capture a few other pictures around the Zoo as you can see below but I wish I had better equipment as I had problems with camera shake due to low light conditions.

Before you ask me I did not use flash in any of these shots.

I use a combination of high ISO and high aperture to get as much light as I can get to allow for a fast shutter speed to avoid camera shake but my camera will not give me anything better than ISO 1600 and most pictures provided at that ISO will be pretty noisy.

First Annual Digital Photo Expo

If you like photography like I do, don’t miss the First Annual Digital Photo Expo that will be held on October 4th and 5th at the Telus Convention Centre in the heart of downtown Calgary.

The First Digital Photo Expo will be the largest photographic trade show in Western Canada and the Exhibitor List includes Canon, Nikon and other key photography related companies.

The speaker’s list is long and includes top talent.

Changing main page picture

I finally changed the blog main page picture to one of my Calgary pictures.

Unfortunately you can only see a portion of the picture at the top of the main page as that’s the way that the site layout works but I am showing the full picture below to give you an idea of how beautiful Calgary’s downtown look like during sunrise.

I took this picture on a winter day a few years ago and I remember that it was pretty cold.

Hope you like the change on the main page.

Exposure – The Calgary – Banff Month of Photography
